Personal Style

Hi friends!
Today I wanted to take a minute and not talk about this specific outfit but, rather personal style. Being a fashion blogger, you would think I’ve always known exactly what my personal style is. I’m here to tell you that has not always been the case. Being a fashion blogger has actually helped me identify my own style, and be ok with what it.
In my opinion style is something that is unique to everyone; and something you should identify to help you curate the perfect closet. Today I want to share my personal style journey with you, in hopes that if you are struggling with yours you can take the steps to figure it out.
I’ve always loved clothing and fashion. In high school Abercrombie was the coolest place you could shop. Jean skirts and polo’s in every color is what you would have found in my closet. To say the least my style was pretty preppy. Around my senior year of HS, fast fashion retailers like forever 21 hit the scene in a BIG way. My style started changing from preppy to more trendy. (P.S. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being trendy. Sometimes I feel like there can be a negative connotation around being a “trend girl” however, if that’s what you like there’s nothing wrong with that.) When I finally transferred to FSU and decided on my major (retail merchandising & product development), I was exposed to so many different personal styles. Two of my best friends were print and color crazy! I thought that was so awesome, and envied their knack for mixing patterns and colors that I would never dream of wearing. (I think this is when I first started to realize my style was a little more classic & neutral.) I would buy pieces that I could envision wearing/styling only for said pieces to sit in my closet and never see the light of day! Being a frivolous college student, and wanting to fit in I would still buy certain crazy pieces from time to time, wear them once and then be done with them. When I moved to NY my senior year to intern, I think I finally started to truly understand my own personal style. I realized jeans, a neutral color top, leather jackets and a badass pair of heels was definitely more my speed. Over the last 4ish years I have come to fully embrace that. Really in the last year I have realized the only patterns I like are stripes and plaid. Anything else is just going to sit in the back of my closet until a friend wants to borrow it or I decide to donate. I’ve also realized its ok to buy every shirt in black, white, navy, grey, etc. Sometimes I’ll throw an olive green or burgundy in there but when I step too far out of my color wheelhouse with something, it too just sits in my closet.
I think for a long time with being a blogger I thought I needed something different to set myself apart. (If only I could be a crazy pattern/color-mixing machine like my two friends.) However, I’ve come to realize there’s someone out there whose style is just like mine. A girl that needs to know where to buy a great pair of black denim that won’t fade or the perfect trench vest at a great price that she can wear season after season. And to show her it’s ok to step a little outside your comfort zone every once in a while; and buy that baby pink sweater, because even though I love a good neutral everyone needs a little something different from time to time.
So if you’re anything like me and have had a long journey identifying your own style I challenge you to step back and really think about your favorite pieces you own. What do you reach for time and time again? What makes you feel comfortable yet fabulous when you walk out of your house every morning?  Do you like colors or are you more of a neutral gal? Prints or solids? Dresses or pants? If you can identify those things you can easily start curating a closet that will reflect your own style with pieces you will wear season after season. I can’t say you’ll never buy a piece you won’t wear (I’m still guilty of this), but I promise it will be a lot less.

Chunky Sweater

Ok… I know I’ve said this before, however, I think this is my favorite outfit I’ve shared in a while. It’s definitely going to be my fall uniform because I love all of these pieces so much!
Let’s start with the sweater! I picked this up during the Nsale and I am so glad I did. I was immediately drawn to how oversize and chunky it is. It’s a great layering piece for fall; and will keep you warm and cozy all season long! I bought it in two colors, and officially want the other three it comes in. I promise you it’s that good. I think I may get the rose next.
Now let’s talk about these shoes!! I saw an extremely similar pair in the Nsale catalog and fell in love. The price however (even during the sale) was not something I could justify. When I saw these babies at Target under $30 I didn’t even think twice before clicking “add to cart”. I love how they add a little pop to this outfit but, not too much. If you’ve followed me for a while, you also know I’m drawn to pastels for winter; so these will be perfect in December and January for my wardrobe.
Did I mention they are super comfortable? The lower heel makes them wearable all day and all night! (I’ve been loving the lower heel trend lately and my feet are definitely loving it too!)

As much as I love this outfit it will be a while before I can wear it. It is still 90+ degrees down here in FL. I say it every year but I live in the wrong state! This gal loves cooler temps, and I feel like they are never coming. How is it where you live? Have you gotten a taste of fall yet?

Fall Shoes: Target Edition

Back in the Spring/Summer I did a round-up of my favorite shoes from Target because there were so many good ones. The other day I was there and noticed they have done it again this Fall. I literally want all the shoes right now. That being said I thought I would put together my favorite Fall shoes from their collection.
(These remind me of the Kristin Cavallari ones.)
(Giving me all the clueless vibes!)
(Love the cognac color.)
(Normally not about the kitten heel, but these I love!!)
(I love the height of these.)
(Reminds me of the ones that sold out during the Nsale.)
(Just bought these the other day and can't wait to style them!)
(These are giving me all the edgy vibes! Throw on with all black and you will look like a total BA!)
(I need these in black. Such a great price!!)
(I lived in these last year. I will probably purchase a backup pair in case something happens to mine.)
(The print is so cute.)
(I want these in every color!)
(I will be buying these in black and taupe.)
(These are too cute with cropped denim)

So which are your favorite? Keep checking the blog all season long because you are sure to see more than a few pairs styled here!!

Linen in the Fall

Remember 2 weeks ago when I shared this linen shirt with y'all; and I said you absolutely needed this in your closet? Well I figured a lot of you were like ok...why would I buy a linen shirt when Summer is almost over?! Well, don't worry, I've got your back! Today I'm going to show you just how you can transition it from these last few weeks of summer straight into the fall!
I had this outfit in mind when I shared this shirt a couple weeks ago, but I hadn't tried it on. (I'm a very visual person and can't tell you how many times I've thought of an outfit in my head and then when I went to put it on I thought, what the HELL was I thinking?!?!) However, when I put this outfit on it looked exactly as I imagined. I have been obsessed with high waisted jeans lately, and I love how when you front tuck this shirt it elongates your legs. I decided on these booties because if you've been following me for a while you know they are my absolute favorites, and I wear them NON STOP! (I also happen to own them in 2 other colors.) I also decided to put on this hat, as I always feel like wool hats really give an outfit the full fall feel. I hope y'all like this outfit because I will probably be wearing it every weekend from now until November. And I totally could, as this shirt is so lightweight!

What do you guys think? Are you ready for fall fashion? As soon as Labor Day is over I am ready for fall everything! J even let me put out the entire fall decor this past weekend, without any fuss. Haha and he said we could go shopping for a few new fall pieces this weekend! What a gem! Haha

Fuzzy Sweat

Happy Hump Day!
This may be a short work week, but it feels like it should already be Friday. Anyone else ready for the weekend?
Speaking of weekend I wore this outfit this past weekend and I am obsessed with this sweater. If I'm being honest my boss found it first and then me and all the other girls on my team proceeded to buy it. haha Can you say twinning? I mean how could we not?! It comes in 3 amazing colors, it's under $20 and it's so freaking soft. I also like it because I tend to gravitate towards more oversized long sweaters and this one hits right at your hips. I also LOVE the blush pink color. It comes in two other colors, but the pink is definitely my favorite! I wore it with shorts this past weekend since it's still so hot out, but I will have no problem pairing it with jeans and boots when it finally gets cooler outside. (Crossing my fingers that will be sooner rather than later!)
