The Classics

Being a fashion blogger is all about showing new trends, different ways to style things and sometimes really stepping out of your comfort zone. While all of that is fun, I think it's important to go back to the basics from time to time. And that's just what I'm doing today.
When I was searching for a white button-down dress for this outfit I decided I also needed a new white button down. I have a linen one and a more fashion/trendy one so I decided to add a true Oxford style shirt to my collection. This one is so crisp and classic. I will definitely be wearing it for a long time.
While planning outfits one day I thought what is more classic than a white shirt and jeans? Since I hadn't shared a true closet staple/basics post in a while I thought this would be perfect. I paired it with my favorite mom jeans and a pair of nude heels. I kept my accessories and lipstick very minimal as well.
Overall these are all pieces I think everyone should have in their closet. Even if they aren't these exact jeans or these exact heels. Every gal needs a good white button-down, a good pair of jeans and a classic nude heel!
I do want to say that sadly my exact shirt is sold out. This retailer always sells out so fast. However, I have linked a ton of very similar options below.

Shirt: H&M only XL available (similar here, here here, & here) | Denim: Abercrombie | Shoes: Steve Madden | Purse: Tory Burch exact color is no longer available | Sunnies: Quay Australia | Choker Necklace: Flat one from this set | Lips: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk with NYX Butter Gloss in Crème Brûlée on top

What are some of your favorite classic pieces? I obviously love these pieces and a good leather jacket.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I appreciate you stopping by today!

Tropical Vacation Picks

A few weeks ago my friends and I booked a trip to Mexico for later this year. I cannot tell you how excited I am for that vacation. So much that I started browsing clothes, swim and accessories ASAP!
Although it's still a long way away, I thought I could pull together some of the items I came across. Plus Spring and Summer are right around the corner and hopefully you will have somewhere to wear these items.
These are my absolute FAVORITE denim shorts. I was ready to spend the $$ on Agolde last year but decided to give these a try... I am so glad I did! I have thick thighs and these fit PERFECTLY!
I wanted last year's version but I waited too long and it sold out. Will definitely be snagging this one.
I have loved this hat for so long. It's expensive, but I have honestly never been able to find a good dupe. Maybe I'll finally pull the trigger this year.
You always need a good white dress on a beach vacation. Nothing shows off your tan better. I can picture this for dinner with some fun earrings one night.
I LOVE that high waist bikini bottoms are so in. I think they are extremely flattering. I have been admiring this bathing suit for a while now. The Top is currently on sale so now would be a good time to snag it.
Are y'all over tie dye yet? I'm not! I have last year's version of these shorts and I'm obsessed with them. These are perfect to throw on over a bathing suit and head to the beach or pool.
These are major key for Summer! Since it's oversized you can wear it alone or with shorts. I also love wearing oversize, breathable shirts when it's hot out. Definitely helps keep you cool.
This one comes in a ton of colors too!
I know some people hate pants when it's hot out. I think they look so chic with a bathing suit or crop top though. Definitely want to get a pair for the Summer.
This has been popping up in ads left and right for me on social media. The first time I saw it I thought it would make the cutest beach bag. Definitely thinking about snagging one for this upcoming trip. It would also be great to carry all my crap on the plane.
Told y'all I wasn't over the tie dye trend. I definitely snagged this piece to wear to dinner on vacation. I'l definitely be wearing it all Summer before we head to Mexico though.

Does anyone else have a vacation planned for later this year? I know Covid is still very much a thing. That's why we booked it so far out. We are hoping things will really be getting back to normal by the end of August and that maybe we will all be vaccinated. We also have trip insurance if we don't feel comfortable going when the time comes.
I hope y'all have a great week and that these pieces bring you some hope for warmer weather coming soon.

Sheer Polka Dots

I originally planned to post another way to style this sweater vest today. When I looked at the photos though I realized something happened when we were shooting and NONE of them were usable. Not sure if the lens was fogged, the lighting was bad, or the settings were off. I'm so glad I looked at the photos before I wrote the post.
Since none of them were usable I will have to reshoot and now get to share this fun top with y'all instead.
If you follow me on IG you know I wore this top on Valentine's Day for brunch with J and our friends. All I can say is I'm freaking OBSESSED! It's the sheer puff sleeve and polka dots for me. It is just such a cute top. Since Spring is right around the corner I grabbed it in white, but it comes in a few different color options. (I debating grabbing the black one too.) I kept things simple and paired it with my favorite mom jeans and mules, but it would look great with skinny jeans, skirts, leather shorts... the possibilities are endless.
Did I mention it's under $30?? It looks so much more expensive in my opinion.

Top: Amazon | Denim: Abercrombie | Shoes: Old (similar herehere, & here) | Sunnies: Quay Australia | Lips: Ulta Patent Shine Liquid Lipstick in Marbella

Speaking of springtime, how is the weather where you live? Anyone live in Texas and experiencing that crazy snow storm? I've been seeing everyone's stories and it's a little scary. So many people are without power and since Texas doesn't usually experience weather like that I know the roads are probably a mess!!
I'm sure everyone will be ready for some Spring weather after this storm. (The Northeast included.)

Like Neon Lights

Remember a week or two ago when I shared some neon joggers on Instagram? I said I really stepped out of my comfort zone on those. That whole Nordstrom order was outside of my comfort zone because this was another piece I got. (Also Free People)
I saw this sweater a while ago and was immediately drawn to it. (It might have been because of the color name... dinosaur. How cute is that?)
After thinking about it a while and it finally going on sale I decided to pull the trigger. I usually don't go for a lot of color, but every once in a while I think it's good to shake things up. This time I went really out there, but I'm so glad I did. It's such a fun color for Spring.
I also knew as soon as it came in the mail I wanted to pair it with my new paperbag pants. I picked these up from Target recently because I loved the wash and they are super on trend for Spring. This sweater is a tad bulky for them but I think I made it work.
I also paired it with heels to give me some height but I would totally wear this with my white Nike sneakers too!

Sweater: Free People (I sized down to a small. It's very oversize.) | Pants: Target | Shoes: Steve Madden (I have the suede version that doesn't appear to be available anymore. If you want suede get these) | Sunnies: Quay Australia | Lips: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague

I would love to hear your thoughts on this color. Especially if you are typically a neutrals gal like me. (Don't worry if you really hate this color it does come in a bunch of other options.)

Sweater Vest

I have to start this post by saying I am so excited that the main piece of this outfit is still in stock!
This retailer usually sells out so fast. I was honestly worried it was going to be sold out before I even got it in the mail. But we are safe and it's still available in all colors and all sizes. So now let's get into the outfit.

I have been seeing sweater vests a lot this past Fall/Winter and absolutely loving them. I love how you can style them in a variety of different ways. I knew I wanted a longer one too so I could style it over a dress. I mean I really had this exact outfit in my mind for a few months now. The only problem was I couldn't find a sweater vest I loved that was actually in stock. The minute this one popped up in an ad I immediately ordered it.
I think this is honestly one of my favorite outfits I have shared in a while. It makes me feel like I need to be in France or somewhere else in Europe. It's also giving me a little bit of Gossip Girl vibes. I felt like the vest over the dress could be a bit girly so I added tights and combat boots to edge it up a bit for winter.
Can we also talk about these tights for a minute.
They are total Gucci dupes. I have been wanting the Gucci tights since last Winter, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the money. I feel like they are too trendy of a piece to really make the investment. (Ya girl doesn't have that kind of money.) I saw a few other bloggers post dupes and that's when I found these. They came super quick and are good quality.

Vest: H&M | Dress: Amazon (I liked this one better, but it was out of stock at the time.) | Tights: Etsy | Boots: JustFab | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sunnies: Quay Australia | Lips: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague

If you like the vest I definitely recommend getting it ASAP. I plan to style it with jeans and then also in a more Spring appropriate way.
How was everyone's week?  It's been a long one for me. It's actually been 2 long weeks. I'm hoping that after next week my regular job will quiet down a little.
I hope y'all have a nice relaxing and fun weekend. I appreciate you checking out the blog today and everyday :)
